This Thanksgiving was dedicated to spending time with our most cherished friends. Christmas will be a family-filled bonanza, but this holiday was for friends. It was great. I think we might make it a new tradition. We had the H's over on T-day and we spent most of the day just hanging out--no timelines or pretenses. J & J enjoyed their libations...okay I hit the hard egg nog a bit too, but I digress-- and they played with the herd as they ran through now and then. B and I spent our time chatting in the kitchen and making dinner at an especially leisurely pace. Dinner was rather peaceful and fairly low-key compared to our turkey days past. It was just a good day.
The next day the I's came into town. We spent most of Friday through Monday just hangin' out, catching up, enjoying meals and taking the I's to a few of their old haunts. We met up with H's at the beach park and it was nice to have all of our friends together. While sharing time can often be tricky, I love it when it works so well :) It was bittersweet to have the I's to ourselves for 3 whole days, though. Now, I am reminded of how much I really love them and how much we really miss out on now that we have so many miles between us. I don't even want to think about how big baby E will be next time we see her :(
After all is said and done, I still can't recommend it enough, though! Try making your next Thanksgiving a Friendly Holiday :)
